Performing Art classes facilitate an understanding and appreciation of the arts in the community through the encouragement, discussion, and interaction of participants enrolled in the programs, along with providing professional development opportunities for practicing artists within the community.

The City of St. Albert is currently seeking to hire several Performing Arts Specialty Instructors to plan and deliver programs to class participants from the age of 3 years to adult. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for the preparation, implementation, instruction and evaluation of the program. You will liaise with the Performing Arts Coordinator to plan yearly curriculum, learning outcomes and term to term objectives. Instructors will be responsible for the individual class plans and the weekly instruction of the classes throughout each term. Instructors will provide a weekly report to the Performing Arts Coordinator regarding attendance and progress. The instructor will also be responsible for ensuring the adherence to all safe work practices.

Qualifications

  • The individuals we are looking for should have extensive knowledge and experience in the performing arts genre.
  • An undergraduate diploma or degree in the performing arts/education is preferable.
  • Experience working as a performing arts instructor, working with large groups of youth is a definite asset.
  • The Instructors we seek are team players with high levels of interpersonal and communication skill.

Hours of Work

Up to 15 hours per week including Saturday and some evenings. The number of hours worked per week fluctuates on an as-needed basis due to operational requirements and will be scheduled in advance where possible.

Compensation

$20.00 - $60.00 per hour based on qualifications, experience and program requirements.
