The Opportunity
As an Aquatics Instructor – Level 3 you will:
- Act as the Shift Supervisor, overseeing daily operations and ensuring smooth program delivery.
- Be prepared to step in and teach classes in the event of instructor absences.
- Assign and place assistants with appropriate classes to enhance program support.
- Ensure Aquatics Instructor 2s are on deck, prepared for class setup, and assist with cleanup afterward.
- Serve as a liaison between Lifeguards, Customer Service Representatives, and parents/caregivers, addressing concerns and facilitating communication.
- Provide guidance and mentorship on teaching techniques, safety protocols, class management, and behavioral expectations.
- Support and contribute to performance management, offering constructive feedback to instructors to foster professional growth.
Aquatics Instructor 3’s are responsible for overseeing additional duties to support program operations and staff development. These include organizing and maintaining WaterSmart materials, ensuring storage rooms and staff areas are clean and well-stocked, and managing inventory of supplies and lesson reference materials. They also assist with in-service trainings, repair lifejackets and equipment, and ensure all teaching resources are readily available and in good condition.
Qualifications
- 1000 hours of instructing experience.
- Hold an Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer certification.
- Experience with Intelli Leisure, Microsoft Office 365 is certainly considered an asset.
Preference will be given to candidates that have teaching experience and those who hold one or more of the following designations:
- Swim Instructor Trainer
- Lifesaving Instructor Trainer
- Intermediate First Aid (IFA) Instructor
- National Lifeguard (NL) Instructor
- Oxygen Administration (02) Instructor
- JLC Coach
- Swim Coach Certification
- Those holding other Instructor qualifications will be considered
Hours of Work
Instructors are required to fill various shifts and must have the flexibility to work a dynamic schedule. A minimum commitment of 4 hours per week is required, with a primary focus on evening and weekend availability.
Compensation
$25.63 - $31.17 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
