The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is seeking to hire a Casual Labourer to join our Transit branch within the Public Operations Department.

Specific duties will include:
  • Daily Vehicle Servicing: Fuel, vacuum, wash, and spot-clean Transit vehicles to keep them in top condition.
  • Facility and Yard Maintenance: Perform general cleaning and upkeep of the Transit garage, ensuring a clean and organized workspace. Maintain the Transit yard, including snow removal and general upkeep.
  • Drive and park buses within the Transit facility.
  • Operate various equipment, including forklifts and floor sweepers, to support daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Driver’s License: A valid Class 5 driver’s license with fewer than 3 demerits is required. A Class 3.0 license is preferred.
  • Education & Experience: Completion of a high school diploma and relevant work experience.
  • Physical Capability: Ability to lift equipment, parts, and materials weighing up to 60 lbs and work effectively in a shop environment.

Hours of Work

40 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Generally, an evening shift of 2:00 to 10:00 p.m. but subject to change. Required to work one Sunday per month for 2 to 3 hours.

Compensation

$17.92 - $20.83 per hour
