The Opportunity

The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Public Operations department as an Administrative Assistant II.

Reporting to the Office Administrator, this position will be responsible for providing a range of entry level administrative support, reception, and customer service to all members of the department or as part of a front-line service provision to citizens.

The key responsibilities will include:
 
  • Serving as the first point of contact for external and internal clients, greeting customers professionally and addressing inquiries or directing them to the appropriate source.
  • Handling a high volume of calls and web inquiries, including managing difficult situations and resolving customer issues.
  • Supporting administrative tasks, such as preparing files, distributing mail, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Providing coverage for administrative staff during absences, ensuring smooth operations across the department.
  • Supporting the department with special administrative projects or events.

The individual we seek is or has FOIP knowledge, strong customer service and de-escalation skills, good communication, multitasking ability, and familiarity with City departments, Collective Agreements, and Public Operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma combined with 3 years related experience and skilled in handling a high volume of calls, including managing difficult interactions and resolving tense situations professionally.
  • Working towards or completion of a post-secondary administrative certificate program (such as an Office Administration Certificate) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Hours of Work

We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 7:00 – 4:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).

Compensation

$50,690 - $ 60,499 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package.
