The Opportunity
Reporting to the Office Administrator, this position will be responsible for providing a range of entry level administrative support, reception, and customer service to all members of the department or as part of a front-line service provision to citizens.
The key responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the first point of contact for external and internal clients, greeting customers professionally and addressing inquiries or directing them to the appropriate source.
- Handling a high volume of calls and web inquiries, including managing difficult situations and resolving customer issues.
- Supporting administrative tasks, such as preparing files, distributing mail, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
- Providing coverage for administrative staff during absences, ensuring smooth operations across the department.
- Supporting the department with special administrative projects or events.
The individual we seek is or has FOIP knowledge, strong customer service and de-escalation skills, good communication, multitasking ability, and familiarity with City departments, Collective Agreements, and Public Operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma combined with 3 years related experience and skilled in handling a high volume of calls, including managing difficult interactions and resolving tense situations professionally.
- Working towards or completion of a post-secondary administrative certificate program (such as an Office Administration Certificate) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Hours of Work
We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours, Monday - Friday, 7:00 – 4:00, with a biweekly regular day off (RDO).
Compensation
$50,690 - $ 60,499 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package.
