Who We Are

Our organization, Omnia Training, is focused on the delivery of work-integrated learning where participants can move into specialized employment. Our teaching strategy combines the action learning and experiential learning principles for adult education and training. Our instructional methods utilize different platforms such as theory-based online learning, classroom learning and hands-on practical field learning in a “co-op” setting that can help participants reach their full potential as they apply their knowledge to real-life scenarios. We are looking for an instructor for our Horizontal Directional Drilling program.

The Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver course materials and learning assessments in assigned format.
  • Utilize Absorb LMS as delivery platform for online courses.
  • Communicate course objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and review the grading policies of the course.
  • Implement program policies, such as those relating to grades, attendance, progress, dress and grooming, and safety procedures.
  • Evaluate student achievement of specific learning outcomes and discuss progress.
  • Participate in required orientations and instructor training programs.
  • Attend instructor meetings and program events.
  • Supervise student involvement in their online learning, practical hands-on training and field projects.
  • Assist individual students with classroom assignments and skill development to encourage successful attainment of program standards.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating the logistics for program functions, including instruction equipment and supplies; off-campus appointments; special presentations to the students.
  • Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with program manager and other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.
  • When possible, participate in professional development activities.
  • Assist students in adjusting to established disciplinary standards and in internalizing the vital moral, and ethical, with special emphasis on developing a positive work ethic.
  • Perform other duties as may occasionally be assigned by the Program Manager.
 

 

Education, Experience, Certifications

  • Post secondary education is an asset
  • Some years of experience Horizontal Directional Drilling
  • Experience in teaching adult is an asset but not required
  • Have safety tickets such as: CSTS 2020, First Aid, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Ground Disturbance or willing to take these upon hired
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Google applications and computer skills
  • Proficiency in SmartSheet and SiteDocs is an asset
  • Proficiency to use LMS is an asset
  • Ability to deliver interactive and motivational classroom activities to teach practical techniques and concepts.

Requirements:

  • Class 5 Drivers license
  • Competency to use power tools and hand tools is required
  • Reliable vehicle is required
  • This position requires instructor to be onsite
  • Ability to stand on your feet for extended periods of time
  • English language proficiency
 

 

Work conditions:

Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm

Full time, contract for 2 years – a possibility for extension

Online, in-person, classroom and field training

Target students: young adults, new immigrants, adult learners
