DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor Projects, the Design Student will provide exceptional customer and stakeholder service. This will require a desire for problem solving while prioritizing the safety of employees and communities. This role will take initiative and thrive in a diverse environment that includes both team and individually based tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
- Confirm scope and prepare or provide input to estimates on distribution projects.
- Work with project data in SAP, AM/FM and the project management tool.
- Participate in training on staking and locating new services.
- Apply standards and check designs based on codes and current engineering policies.
- Use computer software to complete technical calculations to validate design.
- Perform Risk and Hazard Assessments.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Operates with a high level of organizational and analytical skills while paying close attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma program and be planning to return to a post-secondary institution in a full-time capacity.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Due to possible driving requirements for this role, a valid Alberta Motor Vehicle driver’s license in good standing, is required
