Dura-Line Line Operator in St. Albert, AB CAN

Hours: Currently 12-hour Day shift & Night shift with a 4-On, 3-Off one week; and 4-Off, 3-On the next week. This will change to 24/7 (2-3-2) schedule when more lines open.

Hours are 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am

Pay starts at $24/hour. Plus $2.50 shift differential for night shift only

Dura-Line is looking for an experienced Line Operator to set up and operate HDPE extrusion lines, adjust/document operating conditions and ensure product is being made according to customer specification.

The Line Operator is responsible for physically operating an extrusion line in a way that ensures all products are produced free from cosmetic and physical defects and are within manufacturing tolerances. The Line Operator is responsible for the quality of the product run and adjusts and documents operating conditions to produce the highest attainable quality of pipe in a safe and efficient manner.

SAFETY is priority!!!! Safety Steel Toed Shoes are required (must be CSA approved). Shoe Reimbursement voucher provided upon start date.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Know and understand the quality and material requirements for all products being produced.

Review product and equipment throughout the assigned shift to confirm that product material and quality requirements are being met.

Oversee the quality of and documentation for the product run.

Complete appropriate documentation to ensure accurate inventory transactions.

Maintain records of “Lost Production Hours” including reasons for lost time.

Start lines and make necessary corrections to process conditions and/or equipment to maintain product quality standard.

Monitor cooling system, both vacuum and spray, to ensure proper operation. This includes water levels in vacuum tank, proper flow and spray pattern in spray tanks, water temperature, and more.

Make corrections as needed to maintain output, quality and maximum operating speeds and make required tooling changes to maintain production schedule.

Coordinate changes with other operators that have responsibilities on the extrusion line.

REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to perform simple math: add, subtract, multiply, divide and take measurements.

Knowledge and understanding of the job duties of downstream operators and reel builders.

Knowledge and understanding of smooth core procedures and operation.

Valid lift forklift license a plus.

Working knowledge of extruders, printers, reelers, vacuum systems, chiller systems, resin systems, pullers, quality control standards and product specifications.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work 12 hours per day, 3–4 days per week.

Ability to work most of the time indoors on the plant floor, with heat, dust, and noise and work some of the time outdoors in any weather condition.

Ability to remain in a stationary position 80-100% of the time. Must squat, bend or stoop as much as 25% of the time on some days.

Ability to operate hand and pneumatic powered strapping tools. Must also be able to use chains, slings, and hooks. Ability to operate keyboard on microprocessor equipment.

Ability to lift to 50 pounds without assistance and ability to push and pull pipe stalks and coils.

Ability to get into and out of lift trucks and other mobile equipment. Must be continually alert to mobile machinery.

Must be able to cope with the pressures of extrusion equipment that runs continuously in a 24-hour period.

Must be able to wear dust mask, earplugs, face shields, as necessary.

Ability to climb ladders, listen to equipment, look for defects in product and sense temperature changes in the finished product.

“The compensation for this position will typically start at $24.00 an hour plus $2.50 for night shift differential. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. ​
