Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to provide essential support to children with developmental disabilities such as Autism, ADHD & Downs Syndrome. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children & their families. Posses experience in pediatric care, home care, and medication administration, with a strong emphasis on autism awareness and child development. This role involves working closely with children with mild to severe disabilities to enhance their quality of life through personalized care and companionship both in home and in the community.
Responsibilities
- Assist children with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to children, providing a positive environment.
- Monitor child's health and report any changes in condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals & legal guardians.
- Assist with mobility and transportation needs, ensuring safety during transfers.
- Maintain a clean and organized living space for children, including light housekeeping tasks.
- Support children with severe or significant needs with medication administration and accurate documentation while following specific respite support care plans.
- Collaborate with family, teachers, speech pathologists, behavioral therapists, doctors and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive respite care.
- Document child's activities, progress and any relevant observations accurately.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with autistic children or children with ADHD.
- Knowledge of meal preparation techniques that cater to dietary restrictions is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all the professionals and family members in a child's circle of care.
- Compassionate nature with a commitment to providing high-quality caregiving services.
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with caregiving, including lifting or moving children as necessary.
- Certification & training in any Human Service field is mandatory.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours as needed.
- Class 5 Drivers Licence and access to a reliable vehicle a must.
- Valid First Aid CPR Level C issued in Canada
- Child Intervention Check issued by Alberta Children's Services within the last 6 months
- Clear Police Check from Edmonton Police Services issued within the last 6 months

Pay: $21.55-$23.87 per hour
