DEMA Land Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Land Agent – Indigenous Consultation Specialist to support infrastructure projects across Alberta on a project-by-project basis. Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in Indigenous consultation and stakeholder engagement
- Background in landowner relations, land acquisition, or consultation processes
- Knowledge of Alberta’s agricultural, farming, or ranching communities
- Familiarity with provincial regulations, land acts, and regulatory processes
- Strong communication skills (phone, email, and in-person) with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented with a strong work ethic
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
Role and Responsibilities:
- Conduct Indigenous consultation and stakeholder engagement for infrastructure projects
- Negotiate land acquisition agreements with private landowners, Indigenous communities, and special interest groups
- Perform rental reviews, damage settlements, and general stakeholder communication
- Travel to project sites across Alberta, including rural and backcountry areas
- Execute and audit acquisition documents with precision
- Maintain open communication with clients and the Project Manager, reporting field successes and challenges
- Document and escalate stakeholder concerns as needed
- Uphold strict confidentiality standards
What You Need:
- Land Agent Diploma or equivalent qualification
- Valid Alberta Land Agents License (preferred)
- Valid Driver’s License and comfort driving rural/backcountry roads
- Commissioner for Oaths designation in Western Canada (an asset)
