The Opportunity
The City of St. Albert is now accepting applications for Casual Labourers in our Public Operations department. These seasonal positions are in high demand and offer primarily full-time hours. Join our team and take the opportunity to work outdoors, contributing to St. Albert’s well-maintained green spaces, roadways, and essential infrastructure.
We are looking for individuals with excellent customer service, teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions. These roles primarily work outdoors in various weather conditions, and candidates working indoors at City facilities will encounter diverse work environments, on varied surfaces.
Duties may vary based on placement area and could include tasks related to outdoor rinks, snow clearing, tree maintenance, road maintenance, or the recycling depot. Physical labour includes repetitive task movements pushing and pulling and lifting up to 60 lbs. repeatedly as well as standing for extended periods.
Qualifications
- Valid class 5 Driver’s License (full or GDL).
- Physical capability to perform assigned duties, including lifting, sitting, riding, and standing for extended periods.
- A Class 3 License with Q endorsement is an asset.
- Preference for candidates with Basic (Emergency) or Intermediate (Standard) First Aid and Defensive Driver training.
- Relevant work experience is beneficial. Please highlight any previous labour or maintenance experience and note your proficiency with handheld or power tools and small equipment.
Hours of Work
The hours for these positions may vary, but they are generally full-time at 40 hours per week. Please note that some roles may require afternoon and/or weekend shifts.
Compensation
$17.48 - $20.32 per hour
