BAKER 32 - 40 hours / week

BreadLove is a micro bakery & bread school focused on great bread, rolls, scones, cookies, and our famous cinnamon buns + cheerful and informed service.

We bake yeasted and sourdough breads that are flavorful and nourishing, and rustic pastries that emphasize our excellent ingredients, from local grains and dairy to seasonal produce. We bake for our community, to bring them their daily bread; for ourselves, to earn a living producing beautiful food; and for the food system, to strengthen the connections between farmers, millers, bakers, and eaters.

The Baker will be responsible for bread preparation, mixing, shaping and production baking, along with kitchen maintenance, and helping with other tasks as needed. Primary production days are Fridays and Saturdays (4-12) with Wednesday & Thursday (8-4) being prep days. We will never be open on Sundays and statutory holidays.

Job duties include:

  • Preparation of cinnamon rolls & various treats
  • Mixing, shaping, and baking sourdough & long fermentation yeasted breads.
  • Cleaning, including washing dishes, sweeping, and mopping, and organizing storage.
  • Stamping bags, packing orders and farmers market product.
  • Occasional errands or deliveries outside the kitchen (must have drivers’ licence)
  • Adapting recipes to seasonal ingredients and helping to test and build new recipes.
  • At least one year working in a commercial kitchen or bakery. * Strong work ethic and desire to work efficiently and accurately. * Ability to excel through practice and creating better systems, troubleshooting problems, and ask for assistance when necessary. * Able to work on your feet and lift 50+ lbs repeatedly. * Reliable transportation and timeliness. * A food handler’s permit. * Familiarity with baker’s math and recipe building. * Interest in local food systems, farming, and/or foraging.

Compensation: The starting wage is $17.00/hour depending on experience with the possibility of performance-based raises. Please describe your interest and relevant experience, any schedule considerations, and attach a current resume with 2-3 professional references. Thank you for your interest
