Concrete Form Setter (F/T Seasonal, Spring Start)

Standard General Inc. (Edmonton) is looking for experienced Concrete Form Setters (F/T Seasonal, Spring Start)

Job Summary
The Concrete Form Setter builds wood and/or metal forms for the construction of concrete sidewalks, curbs and gutters and other concrete structures.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lay out forms as required according to specifications with the ability to make calculations depending on grades.
  • Exhibit behaviour that aligns with the core values of Safety, Growth, Integrity, Quality and Collaboration
  • Fill form with fill material and compact with tamper or compactor to bring to required grade.
  • Clean work site of any tools, debris and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Must ensure a solid understanding of, and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
  • Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics. 
  • Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing work.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Diplomas and Certifications

  • High-School Diploma or G.E.D preferred.
  • Class 5 Alberta Driver's License (or equivalent) required.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 1 - 5 years experience setting forms required (wooden or steel).
  • Prior experience in road, sidewalk, and driveway construction preferred.
  • Prior carpentry experience an asset.
  • Prior experience working with concrete materials an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Basic carpentry skills.
  • Ability to read construction plans.

Working Conditions

  • Travel between local job sites as required.
  • Overtime as required.
  • Use of personal protection equipment is required.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
  • Must comply with all company policies.
  • Must be able to work respecting safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Ability to meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing
