Shop Service Clerk/Administrative Assistant, Standard General Inc. Edmonton

Job Description
Standard General Inc. Edmonton will be interviewing for a permanent full-time Shop Service Clerk/Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will be responsible to provide quality and timely clerical support services to the equipment maintenance facility in compliance with Standard General’s accounting policies and procedures, as well as to promote and participate in Goal Zero Initiative. The position also requires verifying, processing and reconciling accounts payable transactions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Positively participate in company safety program and adhere to all safety requirements
  • Support the various shop departments with clerical duties such as entering fuel logs, work orders, inventory reconciliations and packing slips.
  • Match purchase orders to invoices, review and verify, coding, amount and approval before entry
  • Batch and prepare invoices for export.
  • Facilitate and maintain an accurate accounts payable archive system
  • Perform vendor reconciliations as directed
  • Provide quality and timely customer service by answering questions and follow up with suppliers to ensure the issue has been resolved and escalate when necessary
  • Communicate professionally with co-workers, supervisors, managers, vendors and customers
  • Occasional purchasing will be required
  • Participate in record retention and filing as required
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Candidate must have a minimum of 1 - 3 years’ experience in a related position
  • Good organizational skills (record keeping, time management, follow up)
  • Computer literate and an ability to adapt and learn new software
  • Knowledge of JDE and MS Office will be an asset
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to process and enter high volume of data, work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Successfully meet all safety requirements including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and fitness to work testing relevant to the position requirements
  • Ability to work overtime as required
